Obituary of James Richard Schmidt

James Richard Schmidt, age 70, of Eldon, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his residence in Eldon. James was born April 21, 1931 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Lorna (Hemmingston) Schmidt. On March 3, 1962 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Sarah Hanson, and together they had shared the past 49 years until his death. James had served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Later he worked in management for GTE Telecommunications Corporation. In his spare time he enjoyed target shooting, painting and spending time with family. James was a member of the N.R.A., the VFW in Eldon, and the American Legion in Lake Ozark. James is survived by his loving wife, Sarah of the home; one son, John Richard Schmidt of Eldon, Missouri; one daughter, Lorie Chittenden of Lake Ozark, Missouri; one brother John Edward Schmidt and wife, Shirley, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jade Schmidt, Sierra Schmidt, Austin Chittenden and Chase Chittenden, as well as several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
