Obituary of Dwight J. Johnson

Dwight J. Johnson, age 89, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, departed this life Saturday, May 6, 2011 at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri. Dwight was born September 29, 1921 in Wellsford, Kansas, the son of Reggie E. and Vera M. (Harvey) Johnson. On August 3, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Emogene Maxine McBride, and together they had shared the past 67 years until his death. Dwight had served his country proudly as a veteran of WWII and retired from the United States Army as a Captain. He later worked as a furniture salesman. Dwight was a member of Linn Creek Masonic Lodge AF & AM, and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Club in Springfield, Missouri. He was also a 65 year member of the American Legion, last of which was Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach, Missouri, a member of the Combat Vet Motorcycle Association and a Legion Rider. Dwight enjoyed riding his motorcycle, wood-working and spending time with family. Dwight is survived by his loving wife, Emogene, of the home; two sons, Dwayne Johnson and wife, Crystal, of Linn Creek, Missouri and Darrel Johnson and wife, Donna, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; two sisters, Patsy McGinnis of Lakeworth, Florida and Jeannene Ivey of Manhattan, Kansas; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren as well as several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
