Obituary of DeLores Elaine Youker
DeLores (Elaine) Youker, the daughter of Delton Earl and Luella Elsie (Martin) Ludwig was born on October 18th 1943 in St. Paul Minnesota. She was known by her second name Elaine. On Saturday May 21st our Lord decided to call her home. Elaine was 67 years old.
Elaine was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Episcopal Church in St. Paul, MN.
She attended school in the Como Park area of St. Paul, MN. Grade school was at Chelsea and she graduated in 1951 from Murray High School. She played the saxophone in the high school band and was a member of the only ice skating band at the time. After high school she went to work for Northwestern Bell as an operator and a student learning to run accounting equipment. With that education she worked at 3M in the engineering department doing incentive pay studies.
Her joy for skating carried over to roller skating where she competed in the couples dance roller skating. Skating also got her introduced to Gene who would later become her husband and a marriage that spanned 47 years before the Lord called for her.
DeLores Elaine Ludwig and Eugene I. Youker married on May 2nd 1964 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in St. Paul, MN. She is survived by her husband Gene, two sons and five grandchildren. Glen, age 43 the father of Ian and Tessa, Todd, age 40, and his wife Tina, the parents of Hannah, Hallie and Hayden.
Elaine and her family were moved to St. Charles in 1972 where she took a part time job with Burger Chef that was bought by Hardees. She was moved to the office to work with the Finance director as his assistant. In 2000 Elaine moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where she was employed by the Butcher Shop and in Human Resources at The Lodge of the The Four Seasons. At that time she discovered Christ the King church and converted to Lutheran Missouri Synod.
In 2003 Elaine and her husband retired. During the next 7 years her life was devoted to grandchildren, travel, remodeling, the Hope, church financial secretary and hunting. In 2010 the economy caused both Elaine and her husband to return to the work force. Elaine became the church secretary at Christ the King where she worked until she was called to heaven.
Of all the positions that Elaine had in her life this was by far the most gratifying and matched her talents. Evan though her cancer was robbing her of her strength and energy she looked forward to going to work everyday.
Ask anyone that knew DeLores Elaine Youker and they will tell you how blessed they were to have had the experience. The whole family thanks the Lord for the painless passing she was given. No one can put into words how much she will be missed.
