Obituary of Eddie Joe Schissler

Joe Schissler, age 74, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Joe was born February 9, 1937, in Hillsboro, Kansas, the son of Edward and Agnes Meyer Schissler. He was raised in Salina, Kansas and graduated from Salina High School in 1955. Joe married Dixie Lee Trow on March 16, 1957. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1961, with a bachelor�s degree in Education. Joe earned his master�s degree in Education from Central Missouri State University in 1969, and spent most of his career as a teacher and then as the principal of Santa Fe Elementary in the Hickman Mills School District. Joe volunteered for the Special Olympics as a basketball coach. He loved trout fishing at Bennett Springs and was an avid fan of KU basketball. Joe proudly wore the Jayhawk colors while living in Tiger country. Joe is survived by two sons, Sam Schissler and wife,Alison, of Leawood, Kansas, and Dan Schissler of Osage Beach, Missouri; and his four grandchildren, Patrick, John, Ryan, and Katherine. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene Smalley, of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie, and his parents Edward and Agnes.
