Obituary of Howard W. Smith
Howard W. Smith, age 76, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 in Lake Ozark, Missouri.
Howard was born April 12, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Howard W. Smith, Sr. and Nettie (Huff) Smith.
Howard served his country proudly in the United States Navy, serving in Korea. He was married on August 25, 1956 in Sedalia, Missouri to Mary DeWitt and together they had lovingly shared the past 54 years until his death.
Howard worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He was a member of Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach and a member of the Honor Guard Team. He loved his family dearly and was proud of the fact that all four of his sons had served in the Marine Corp. and that one of his grandsons is currently serving in the Marine Corp.
Howard is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; four sons, Brian Smith and wife, Elyse, of Raymore, Missouri, Ryan Smith and wife, Melody, of Lamar, Missouri, Bret Smith and wife, Lisa, of Galt, California, and Michael Smith and wife, Susan, of Lake Ozark, Missouri; one sister, Mickey Spangler and husband, Chuck, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with several other relatives and friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and two half-brothers, Frank and George Neitch.
Interment with full Military Honors will be held Friday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m.at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville, Missouri.
