Obituary of Roy Zane Whitworth

Roy Zane Whitworth, age 83, of Macks Creek, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri. Roy was born April 30, 1928 in Roach, Missouri, a twin son of Orie and Ila (Morgan) Whitworth. He was united in marriage on September 12, 1947 in Camdenton, Missouri to Hazel Ray and they had lovingly shared 50 years together until her death on July 28, 1998. Roy had confessed his faith early and was saved at the age of 14 at the Parrack Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized in the cold waters of the Niangua River. He was a long standing member of First Baptist Church of Camdenton. Roy was the fifth generation of the Whitworth family to reside on the family farm in Camden County. After graduation from Camdenton High School in 1947, he married Hazel Ray and they lived for a short time in the Kansas City area. He began his business career in 1953 as operator of the Palace Standard Service Station on the square in Camdenton. A few short years later, he built Roy�s Retreading Service on West 54 in Camdenton and operated this until his retirement in 1974. After purchasing the �Family Century Farm� in 1961, he then followed his lifelong dream to live, love and farm it until his death. He enjoyed gardening and listening to bluegrass music. More than anything, Roy loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Roy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather and a caring brother, uncle, neighbor and friend to many. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Roy is survived by two sons; Eddie Whitworth and wife, Arlene, of Camdenton, Missouri and Kenny Whitworth and wife, Barb, of Macks Creek, Missouri; two daughters, Karen Dobbins and husband, Dick, of Laurie, Missouri and Lisa VanHook of Camdenton, Missouri; his twin brother, Wayne Whitworth and wife, Mildred, of Camdenton, Missouri; two sisters, Peggy Blake of Omaha, Nebraska and Rita Fera and husband, Mike, of Camdenton, Missouri; twenty grandchildren, Kris Hatfield and wife Kara, Kurt Hatfield and wife Sara, Travis Dobbins and wife Veronica, Cheryl Dobbins, Todd Dobbins and wife Renee, Kim Ruehter and husband Dwayne, Luke Hahn and wife Lisa, Brittany Lowary and husband jim, Derak Whitworth and wife Jessica, Kelan Whitworth, Corey Whitworth, Dakota Whitworth, Colten Whitworth, Dylan Whitworth, Melissa Rothenberger, Katie VanHook, Amber Myers and husband Eric, Bobby VanHook, Chelsey VanHook and Kashea VanHook; thirty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Dorothy Ellis, along with several other relatives and many friends. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Hazel; one brother, Farris Whitworth; two granddaughters, Krisi Whitworth and Brooke Whitworth; and one grandson, Kevin Whitworth. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Chris Franklin for going above and beyond in his care for Roy.
