Obituary of Guy B. Tabacchi

Guy B. Tabacchi age 71, was born May 12, 1940 in Wheeling, West Virginia, and passed away July 4, 2011 in Richmond, Indiana. He was the son of Elizabeth Erdos Tabacchi and Guy Oswald Tabacchi. He was educated at Cadiz, Ohio and at Purdue University as an Electrical Engineer and a mathematician with a Master�s degree. Guy served in the Navy prior to and during the Vietnam War. He married Mary Elizabeth Huddleston on July 16, 1966. They were married for nearly 45 years. Guy worked for United Technologies in Windsor Locks Connecticut, for Control Data in Minneapolis, Minnesota and San Diego, as well as the United States Naval Laboratory at Point Loma, California. He then worked for 30 years for IBM in Owego, New York while Mary Elizabeth pursued a professorial career at Cornell University. They lived happily and productively in Ithaca New York until his death. Guy is predeceased by his parents, parents in law, Charles and Elizabeth Huddleston and several loving aunts, uncles, and one niece, Sarah Huddleston Nerino. He is survived by Mary Elizabeth, his wife, his brother in law Charles Huddleston, his wife, Billie Mae Huddleston, two other sisters in law Helen Huddleston and Lillian Lois Huddleston Wright and four nephews, John Charles Huddleston, John David Nowik, Michael Nerino and Henry Wright; a niece, Martha Nowik and grand-nieces and nephews; Elizabeth, Krystyna , Anna , Sophia, Lucia, Katerina, Johanna, Monica, Alexander and Claire Nowik; Mary Margaret and Lewis Nerino; Rebecca, Emily and Sarah Huddleston. He is also survived by an uncle and aunt, John and Margaret Tabacchi and their son, John Tabacchi. Guy�s career centered about national defense and he also designed electronic systems for the airline industry. He was a Mason, a member of the Cadiz, Ohio Methodist Church and started his early childhood as a Quaker. He was very active in Rotary International and visited clubs around the world including the Camdenton Rotary Club. He was an avid traveler with a never -ending wanderlust. As Mary Elizabeth�s career and consulting practice expanded he was her constant companion to innumerable exotic destinations. Guy became part of the Huddleston and Collins Family as it grew during the generations and became a part of many lives of Mary Elizabeth�s students, friends and colleagues as well as his own friends, colleagues and his beloved Rotary companions. Guy was generous with his heart, spirit and fortune. His rolodex lists friends from all over the world. Some of his last words were how to find a way to send a mammogram machine donated by the Ithaca Rotary Club to the Rotary Club in Bali, Indonesia.
