Obituary of Jim Elkin

James William Elkin II �Jim�, age 62, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born April 21, 1949, in Louisiana, Missouri, the son of James William and Jeanette (Reed) Elkin. He was united in marriage to Paula Barr on December 26, 1970 in Tuscumbia Missouri, and to this union two sons were born. Jim was raised in Louisiana Mo. He graduated from Louisiana High School in 1967 and attended Gem City College in Quincy Illinois. He and his family moved to Lake Ozark in 1969. Jim had worked from 1971-1990 as a mechanic and tow truck operator for Denny�s Service and then for Parish Phillips 66. He was a school bus driver for School of the Osage from 1984 � 2000. He worked for O�Reilly Automotive from 1990-2010. He was associated with the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District for 38 years, first as a Fireman, and then served as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was a member of Lake Ozark Christian Church, Lake Ozark Lions Club, and Hickory Hill Masonic Lodge #211 of Eldon. Jim was previously active in Lake Ozark Little League, Lake Ozark Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He had also been involved with Osage River Antique Power Association, had played in the Lake Area Community Orchestra and had also served on the Lake Ozark City Council. Jim enjoyed camping and watching NASCAR, but his greatest love by far, was his family. Jim is survived by his wife; Paula of the home; two sons, James W Elkin III and wife, Charlene, �Charli�, of Four Seasons, Missouri, and Brandon Jay Elkin and wife, Marisa, of Raytown, Missouri; two grandchildren, Christian James Elkin and Thomas Hosmer Elkin; his brother, Thomas R Elkin and wife, Karen, of Overland, Missouri; along with other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Elkin, and in-laws Ray and Irene Denny and Albert Barr.
