Grace Cole

Obituary of Grace L. Cole

Grace L. Cole, age 83, formerly of Ferguson/Florissant, Missouri, while residing at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, passed to be with Christ with her family at her side. She was the cherished wife of Leonard Cole Jr. for 64 years. They were blessed with two children, a very attentive son, Lee and wife Dee, a beautiful daughter, Barbara Rubinson who preceded her in death, her husband Sam, and five grandchildren, Sarah Levy, (Benny), Tom and Mark Rubinson, Leonard (Eric) Cole and Nick Stoffregen, one great-grandchild, Itia Levy, sisters Mildred M. Johnson, Denise Anna, (Dale), and dear friend, Evah B. Johnson, all surviving. Grace was born February 3, 1928, in Pine Lawn Missouri, where she started school, and later graduated from Ferguson High School. She worked for the Social Security Administration for 30 years having worked her way up to a management position. Grace and Leonard retired to Osage Beach in 1986. Grace was a wonderful example of living her faith and encouraging others, by example and words. No matter how she felt, she always had that infectious smile that made everyone else smile. She was a leader and a dedicated volunteer for whatever was needed. She enjoyed the Lake Area Swedish Club and was very active in the United Methodist Women of Harper Chapel of which she was a member for many years. She was also very active in the Longtimers/Newcomers organization and she designed the logo that they still use. She arranged conventions for the Missouri Pacific Officers Association as well as for the 461st Bomb Group (WWII). She loved to read and enjoyed the Harper Chapel Book Circle in addition to her interest in genealogy which she accessed through her computer research. Grace was so much more, there arent words to properly describe her, but she was always there to lend a helping hand or listen to whatever troubles or problems one might have. She never wavered in her faith in Christ, and will be sorely missed by her family and her family of friends.
