Obituary of Byford L. Phillips

Byford L. Phillips, age 83, of Camdenton, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri. Byford was born July 30, 1928 in Webb City, Missouri, the son of Eally and Virginia (Newman) Phillips. He was united in marriage on June 14, 1953 in Camdenton, Missouri to Joyce Bonner. In 1948, in St. Louis Missouri, Byford joined the United States Navy, and proudly served his country until 1950. Byford had retired from the Missouri State Highway Department after forty years of service. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed cruising around on his Harley Davidson and driving his red Ford Mustang. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Camdenton. Byford was a loving father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend to many. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Byford is survived by his sons, Alan, of Phoenix, Arizona, Dana, of Camdenton, Missouri and Bruce and his wife, Karen, of Camdenton, Missouri; daughter-in-law Kelly Phillips of Camdenton, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ashley DaMitz, Randi Leiferman, Kasie Phillips, Faith Phillips, Cory Phillips, and Jordan Phillips; two great grandchildren, Emma DaMitz and Noah Leiferman; along with several other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Aline Houghton and Virginia Long, and one brother, Norman Phillips
