Rosella Edwards

Obituary of Rosella Edwards

Rosella Edwards, age 80, of Camdenton, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Rosella was born April 24, 1931 in Butler, PA. Rosella was the ninth of ten children, born to Kasman and Rose Petroff Sasuta. Most of her early years were spent with her sister, Helen and Howard Jones. After working several years in downtown Pittsburgh, she enlisted in the US Air Force for a three year term, all of which was spent in training at Lackland AFB, NY. After training, she was assigned to the base hospital in Sampson, NY. It was Sampson where she met her future husband, Lewis Edwards. They were married in Ford City, PA on September 4, 1956. Her husband remained in the Air Force for the next 9 years. His assignments took them to Illinois, Texas, Ohio, Arkansas and Japan. At most of the sites, Rosella worked in Civil Service. In 1965, they retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. She worked with her husband in a real estate office, but first and foremost, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable gardens and flowers. She was an excellent cook and spent many hours cooking and baking. Her husband thought she was the best cook in Camden County. Rosella was a faithful member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Camdenton for 45 years. She was a volunteer at the Lamb House and was active in the church activities including the annual Thanksgiving Day dinner and worked Meals on Wheels for many years. Rosella was a hard worker whose word you could count on, a loyal friend and neighbor. She was that unusual person who enjoyed traveling locally. Rosella had a quick wit and delightful dry sense of humor. These qualities made her a favorite of many healthcare workers during the last two years of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Lew, of the home; sister, Margaret Poplawski of Marietta, GA and many close friends and a large extended family. Goodbye, Rosie, my Dearest.
