Obituary of Floyd DeGraffenreid

Floyd DeGraffenreid, 84, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011, surrounded by his family at home. He was born on February 10, 1927 along with his twin brother Lloyd. He graduated early from Brumley High to join the Navy. He made a Navy career of 23 years and retired Senior Chief Radioman in April 1968. In Willmette, Illinois, he met Ruth Hager and they married in Tuscumbia, Missouri on August 4, 1956. They returned to Missouri in 1968, where Floyd began a second career in construction, eventually forming DeGraffenreid Construction. He was a hard worker; farming and raising cattle on the side. Floyd served several years on the School of the Osage School Board and attended all their sporting events. He was a staunch Republican and loved to watch Fox News. Floyd is survived by children, David/Robin, Brumley, Missouri; Cheryl/Steve Wisdom, Gilbert, Arizona; Bridget DeGraffenreid, Ashland, Missouri; John/Halah DeGraffenreid, Overland Park, Kansas; Kari Vann, Buckner, Missouri; Denise/John Derre, Rogers, Arkansas; Katia Daniel, Branson, Missouri; Bryan/Amanda DeGraffenreid, Brumley, Missouri. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren: Corey, Keane (Millie), Zachary, Kirby, Kelli, Ethan, Melissa, Kaitlyn, Philip, Wyatt, Brieya, Christina, Kolten, Ashley, Lauren, Sarah, John Joe, Maggi, Max and Zoe; 1 great-granddaughter, Kendyl. In addition, Floyd is survived by his twin brother Lloyd and Veda, Brumley, Missouri; In-Laws Ray Hager, Marshfield, Wisconsin, Marie/Jim Stueber, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Seedy/Roy Thorson, Wausau, Wisconsin, Herb/Anita Hager, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and Don/Mary Ellen Hager, Colgate, Wisconsin; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Ruth and daughter Gayle. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Byrne, his nurse Brenda, Jackie Imler (his caregiver) and the nursing staff, respiratory care and physical therapy departments at Lake Regional Health System for their years of care.
