Obituary of Delmar E. McDowell

Delmar E. McDowell, Sr. age 83, of Camdenton, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Delmar was born December 27, 1927 in Linn Creek, Missouri, the son of Charles Arthur and Louise Ellen (Scott) McDowell. He was united in marriage to Florella Riordan on June 1, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and to this union, five children were born. Delmar had served his country proudly in the United States Army. Delmar worked as an owner/operator in the trucking business for the better part of his life. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his yard and horse racing. More than anything he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Delmar is survived by two sons, Delmar �Sunny� McDowell, Jr. and Dennis McDowell and wife, Janice, all of Camdenton, Missouri; three daughters, Debra Kirby and husband, Jerry, of Ft. Myers, Florida, Anita Fleis and husband, William, of Osage Beach, Missouri and Melanie Stonitsch and husband, Kevin, of Ft. Myers, Florida; two sisters, Emma Louise Mawyer and Vera Rainwater and husband, Mack, all of Linn Creek, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Burns, Amy Johnson, Tiffanie Parmenter, Shannon Jones, Stacy Jones, Christopher McDowell, Jeff Stout, and Justin Stonitsch; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florella; six brothers, Melborne, Melcome, Bernard, Vernon, Arthur, Jr. and Gayle; and one sister, Beulah Bowlin.
