Obituary of Lillian Alice Dieckhoff
Lillian Alice Walker Dieckhoff went to be with the Lord on January 4th, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Lillian was born in 1918 in Pratt County, Kansas. She is survived by her husband, Gilbert, of 66 years, daughter, Jane Dieckhoff of Olathe, Kansas, son, Jim Dieckhoff of Olathe, Kansas, grandson, Eric Dieckhoff of Olathe, Kansas, and grandson Evan Dieckhoff in the Air Force.
Lillian and Gilbert met in Wichita, Kansas while working at Beech Air Craft. Gilbert joined the Navy when WWII broke out. When Gilbert returned from overseas duty, Lillian met him in Los Angeles and they got married October 20, 1944. They reported to Ottumwa, Iowa until Gilbert was discharged. They then moved to St. John, Kansas and started a family. After fifteen years there, they moved to Emporia, Kansas. Lillian worked for twenty years at Emporia State University as a secretary in several different departments: English, Education, and the Library. In 1983, Lillian retired from the college and moved with Gilbert to Camdenton, Missouri to be on Lake of the Ozarks. In retirement, Lillian enjoyed reading books and working crossword puzzles. As she began losing her eyesight, books on tape occupied her time.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice and Lake Ozark Rehabilitation Center.
