Obituary of Roma Della Rodden

Roma Della Rodden, age 94, of Brumley, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia, Missouri. Roma was born October 19, 1917 in Brumley, Missouri, the daughter of James Matt and Cythia (George) Jeffries. Roma was united in marriage to Gilbert Rodden on January 5, 1940 in Brumley, Missouri. Gilbert preceded her in death on November 19, 2005. They had shared the past 65 years together until his passing. Roma grew up with her siblings in Brumley where she attended school, and the Rodden Church of Christ. Being a devout christian woman, Roma had a true servant�s heart. She was always there with a helping hand, and a kind word. Roma enjoyed quilting, cooking biscuits and gravy for her family, and making pies for which she was known throughout the area for. She loved working cross-word puzzles to keep her mind sharp, and feeding and watching the birds. Roma loved her family dearly and more than anything, she enjoyed time spent with them. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children; one son, Lonnie Rodden and his wife Cheryl of Richland, Missouri and four daughters Thelma Shields and her husband Larry of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Carol Matsch and her husband Fredrick of Lebanon Missouri, Janie Messner and her husband John of Lebanon, Missouri and Sue Ash of Brumley; eleven grandchildren , fifteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Jeffries and Ronald Jeffries both of Brumley, Missouri along with several other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gilbert; five children, Russell, Phillip, Darrell, Rita and Patsy; eight sisters; two brothers; son-in-law Bert Ash, and sister-in-law Sharon Jeffries.
