Obituary of Evelyn R. Stephens

Evelyn R. Stephens, age 97, of Laurie, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Laurie Care Center, Laurie, Missouri. Evelyn was born October 1, 1914 in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Jennie Boyes. Evelyn was a loving and devoted mother who created a wonderful home for her family and friends. She had worked for Kresge Bakery in downtown Kansas City and managed apartment complexes in the Kansas City area as well. She loved getting to know students from all over the world that were living in the apartments she managed while they attended UMKC. In her spare time she enjoyed all types of crafts and dancing. More than anything, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn is survived by two sons, Wallace Stephens and wife, Elizabeth, of Moore, Oklahoma and John R. Stephens and wife, Patricia, of Georgetown, Texas; three daughters, Georgia Mattenlee and husband, F. Douglas, of Camdenton, Missouri, Carol Admire of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Sandra McKim of Camdenton, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren as well as several other relatives and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Jennie Boyes; two brothers, and two sisters.
