Obituary of Gladys Wanda Blurton

Gladys Wanda Blurton, age 90, of Macks Creek, Missouri, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri. She was surrounded by family and loved ones when she departed. Gladys Wanda Rash was born August 30, 1921 in Macks Creek, Missouri, the daughter of Silas M. and Della (Clark) Rash. She married Herbert Junior Blurton on July 6, 1940, and to this union they had four children who survive them today; Jim Blurton and wife, Brenda, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Joann Smith and husband, Wendell, of Macks Creek, Missouri, Fred Blurton and wife, Gail, of Naperville, Illinois, and Dan Blurton and wife, Christine, of Peculiar, Missouri. Gladys had confessed her faith and was saved�she loved the Lord dearly. Gladys was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing stunning quilts and growing beautiful flowers. After Herbert retired from the Gas Service Company, he and Gladys moved from Grandview, Missouri to Preston, Missouri where they operated a small farm until retiring to Macks Creek. Gladys loved to raise chickens and tend to her garden. Gladys was an amazing cook, mother, grandmother, and person. She possessed a huge heart and resilient spirit which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Even during her recent stay at the hospital, she repeatedly wanted to get up and at one point insisted that she needed to cook breakfast for everyone. Her love touched the lives of many, family and friend alike, and her memory will not soon fade away. We know that, even if she is not here with us in earthly body, she continues to watch us and love us from her place in glory in Heaven. Other survivors include 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; one brother Dewey Rash of Santa Rosa, California along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and his wife, Orval & Edith Rash; and four sisters and their husbands, Bertha and Everett Mawhiney, Pearl Edde, Clara and Marion Linch and Alma and Elvis Quisenberry.
