Obituary of Marie Rothweiler
Marie Rothweiler entered the life of the resurrection on May 31, 2012 after an almost ten year struggle with the effects of Alzheimer�s disease. She was born on September 17, 1931 to Mildred (Harbison) and George Milburn Farley in Bellevue, Missouri.
Seeking new economic opportunities, the family moved to Smithton, Illinois and eventually to Belleville, Illinois where her father worked in the stove foundries and finally became a mechanic and auto body technician. Her mother was a homemaker and also did some housekeeping work outside of the home.
Marie attended high school and cosmetology school in Belleville and spent her working years caring for her family, working for owners of other shops and running her own beauty salon, and in photo processing and finishing. She was married to John E. Rothweiler of Belleville, June 10, 1951. They were parents of one son, Don E. Rothweiler, and had a particularly close relationship with a nephew, David Sova, whom they helped to raise.
Mrs. Rothweiler was particularly fond of portions of her home state of Missouri having vacationed many summers in the Lake of the Ozarks area and returning to visit family in Iron County, Missouri. She retired with her husband to the Lake area in 1985. She loved boating, water sports, dancing to big band music, needlework, and spending time with her family. In her later years, she resided at Garden Gate Estates and Osage Beach Health Care Center.
John and Marie were members of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Belleville, Illinois and of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach, Missouri. She held a number of offices in the church women�s organizations and was active in children�s ministries. She loved caring for her own grandchildren and many other children of friends, family, and her church. She was also a regular volunteer at Lake Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her brother, Don Ray Farley, her sister, Shirley Sova, her parents, and her in-laws. Left to live her loving legacy are son, Rev. Don Rothweiler (Jayme) of Newell, Iowa, grandchildren Ellen and Mark Rothweiler of Johnston, Iowa, her nephew, David (Janice) Sova of O�Fallon, Illinois and their two children; she is also survived by a daughter and son of her sister, and the wife, son, and daughters of her brother as well as descendents of her family in Smithton, Illinois and in Missouri and many friends.
