Obituary of Robert M. Weeks
Robert (Bob) M. Weeks, born June 11, 1935 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Harvey Dean and Margaret Lucille (Ettinger) Weeks, both deceased, died July 28, 2012 in his home.
Bobs sister, Lila and husband, Jim Waugh, reside in Terre Haute. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Jan, and son, Michael and his children, Hannah and Riley of Issaqua, Washington; his daughter Dee and her children, Alexandria and Seth of Huxley, Iowa; his daughter Darcey and her husband, Jim Mulvihill, of Ames, Iowa; and his daughter Lila and her husband, Steven Verfurth and their children Meghan and Tyler of Naperville, Illinois. He also has a sister-in-law, Anne Foster and her husband, Arriola and several nieces and nephews, an aunt and many cousins. Bob was most proud of his cherished children and grandchildren who have given him so much love and joy. He has left them a proud legacy of a much beloved Father and Grandfather.
Bob attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and worked in the drafting department in Indianapolis, Indiana during a summer break, drawing up blue prints for the then new Interstate 70. He also attended Indiana State University and Logan College of Chiropractic. He owned the B&J Egg Company in Ferguson, Missouri while attending Logan and following that he was a territory rep for DX Oil Co. He owned the Hamilton Dairy Queen in Illinois and a KarmelKorn store in Keokuk, Iowa. In 1979 Bob bought what was The Mad Hatter bar and renamed it Sportsmans Bar and he and his Mr. Boston Bar Guide ran it until 1981. It was located where the Osage Beach Walmart is now. He retired from American Book Company. But here at the lake, one of his most favorite jobs was driving a cab for a local cab company on the weekends last summer.
Family and friends know him as having THE most positive attitude and as on friend said I never knew anyone who enjoyed life more than Bob. Hes had a lifetime of experiences and stories and loved sharing those with others.
There will be no funeral per his wishes as he wants to be remembered as a celebrant of life. The family will host a Celebration of Life at the new home Bob designed and got to enjoy at the end, next summer, June 11, 2013, when all his family and far away friends can attend with their Bob stories.
