Obituary of Mary Mardell Grable

Mary Mardell Grable, age 84, of Osage Beach, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. The daughter of Enoch and Emma Hurtie, she and her twin sister Margaret were born November 20, 1927. Mary graduated from Frankfort High School in Vliets, Kansas. On August 24, 1946 she was married to Maurice Grable in Centralia, Kansas. Mary was a homemaker while her husband barbered in Wathena, Kansas. She later worked for Rileys & Moskau grocery stores, Southwestern Bell and AT&T, where she was recognized for being an outstanding phone operator. Mary and Maurice retired to Osage Beach in 1989. Mary was an active member of the Women�s group at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, in Osage Beach. Mary loved to write and share her poems with others. She always looked for the positive and sought to encourage others. She enjoyed tap dancing and especially enjoyed seeing her grandchildren share their talents. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Maurice on July 21, 2008. She is survived by her two sisters, Barbara Mills of Aurora, Colorado and her twin sister Margaret Polson of Beattie, Kansas. Other survivors include her children; Julie Gurss and her husband, John, of Easton, Kansas, John Grable and his wife, Fran, of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Jeannie Byrne and her husband, Kevin, of Osage Beach, Missouri; grandchildren Emilee Gurss, Erin Naidu, Cori Byrne, Jacob Byrne, Jessica Byrne and Hannah Byrne and two great-grandchildren, Kyron Jackson and Lally Naidu along with other relatives and friends.
