Bernice,
I tried to call Mancel today and The phone was disconnected so I came to the internet. This was really sobering news that I received here. I had not spoken to him in quite some time and decided I was going to try calling today. I found out I had waited too long. I had considered calling him before Christmas and decided against it as he had a slight tendency to get stirred up in that season. I did like Charles Mancel and you without a doubt know how highly I thought of your Mom and Dad. I did so look forward to going to aunt Lillian's house when my Dad went there to see them. She would either already have cinnamon rolls made or would fix me a fresh pan. Definitely the direct route to a little boy's heart. She always sent me home with some books to read from her library. I did really want to speak to Mancel again and I do so wish that our last conversation of some time ago had gone better. I suppose you know how that is also.
I did admire Mancel immensely for such a high degree of learning. He overworked himself severely to attain that. I do feel that I owe my education to Mancel as he so encouraged me and even tutored me in high school to be the best in my subjects I suppose you likely didn't know I had cancer over 10 years ago and seems that I did hear of you having a major illness at one time yourself. My cancer was cured by the chemotherapy but I lost my liver and kidneys from the effects of the chemo and fortunate to receive transplants. I am not al all well either and that is the reason I just couldn't debate every single statement with Mancel any longer. I don't travel much, but if you ever get Eldon, MO, please come see my wife and I. Mancel is at peace at long last.
