Obituary of Gary L. White
Gary L. White, age 80, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Lakeside Meadows Nursing Home in Osage Beach. Gary valiantly fought cancer for more than seven years.
Gary was born April 18, 1937 in Mt. Auburn, Illinois, the son of Louie and Alta “Irene” White.
He attended Mt. Auburn schools, graduating from Mt. Auburn High School. Gary went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Education degree at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois and his Master of Arts in Education degree at Columbia University in New York City.
Gary White was a long-time music instructor in Central Illinois. He taught band and choir for Greenview High School; band for Vermont, Ipava, Table Grove (V.I.T.) High School; band for Beardstown High School; and choir for Jacksonville High School. Gary credited his success with his bands and choirs to the talent, dedication and respect received from his wonderful students. He ended his employment years as the Senior Trainer with the Illinois Department on Aging.
Gary is survived by his best friend, Roger Schlatter of Osage Beach, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, and uncles.
No services are being held. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Illinois.
