Obituary of Wendell D. Phillips

Wendell D. Phillips, age 69, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 in Columbia, Missouri.

Wendell was born on February 7, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the son of Kenneth and Loretta (Akley) Phillips.

He was united in marriage to Elaine Schindalga on July 1, 1978 in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Wendell served his country proudly in United States Marine Corp. Later in life, he was the owner of his own Upholstery Shop. Wendell took pride in everything that was associated with the Marines and was a Marine at large. He was a member of the VFW Post in Eldon, Missouri. Wendell also enjoyed watching TV often and painting pictures.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Phillips; brother Kenneth Phillips and wife, Jane Russo, of Rancho Mission Viejo, California; brothers in law Richard Schindalga and wife Lynette of Warrenville, Illinois, and Gerry Pate of Harrisburg, Missouri; nephew Darryn Phillips and wife Melyssa of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; nieces Nichole McCollum of Aurora, Illinois, Amanda Schindalga of Warrenville, Illinois; great nephews Alec Phillips and Max McCollum; and great niece Megan McCollum.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Loretta Phillips; his brother Frank Phillips and sister Karen Pate.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at the Veterans Wall, Lake Memorial Gardens, Osage Beach, Missouri.

Memorial donations are suggested to American Cancer Association, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, or Operation Gratitude.
