Kent Hughes

Obituary of Kent Allen Hughes

Kent Allen Hughes entered this world on July 20, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the youngest of five children by six minutes, to Don and Freda (Mather) Hughes.

Growing up, Kent enjoyed his large family. His family owned a lake house in Climax Springs, Missouri where he learned how to swim, water ski, boat, and his favorite fishing.

He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1984. He then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks to start his own journey. Here he made many lifelong friends. His hobbies included watching sports, playing foosball with his buddies, fishing whenever he got the chance, all around loving the lake life, and spending time with his dogs on the couch.

In 2006, he met the love of his life, Missy Dampier. They were married and lived a very happy life in Camdenton, Missouri. He worked at Bowling Electric and loved life to the fullest. Kent came to know the Lord and was saved and baptized at Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church in Tunas, Missouri.

Kent spent the last few years battling cancer. He was surrounded by all the love and support from family and friends. The good Lord called him home on December 25, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his father Don Hughes and mother Freda (Mather) Hughes.

He is survived by his wife Missy Hughes; daughter Britta and Evan Horne; son Drake Warren; step-daughters Heather and Micah Schlicht, and Toria and Brittany Blecher; and grandchildren Raelin and Conner Schlicht. He is also survived by siblings Steve and Terry Hughes of Suffolx, England, Donna Patterson and Mitch Marquess of Sedalia, Missouri, Phil and Tina Hughes of Lake Dallas, Texas, and twin brother Kevin and Christina Hughes of Butte, Montana; and lots of nieces, nephews, fur babies, and loving friends.
