Obituary of Jim Ray Weems

Jim Ray Weems, born to parents Orville Ray and Shirley Ann Weems at Bethany Hospital Kansas City, Kansas on June 19, 1954, departed on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the age of 66 years, 8 months, and 26 days.

Jim is survived by sons Scott (Melissa) Weems of Iberia, Missouri, James Weems of Iberia, Missouri, Jimmy Weems of Linn Creek, Missouri, Pat (Tessa) Weems of Linn Creek, Missouri, Bary Weems of Linn Creek, Missouri, and Nathan (Raven) Weems of Linn Creek, Missouri; nephew Ed (Gina) Fry of Wichita, Kansas; sisters Beverly Whittle of Eldon, Missouri and Carol Gibson of Kansas City, Kansas; brothers Mark Purinton of Eldon, Missouri and Sam Purinton of Kansas City, Missouri; uncles Lester Luttrell of Iberia, Missouri and Don Luttrell of Kansas City, Kansas; aunts Betty Smotherman of Winona, Missouri and Rose Ethermein of Iberia, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Clint and Virgie Luttrell and Elza Ray Weems and Charlotte Maude Crear; uncles Junior Luttrell and Larry Luttrell; aunts Isamay Mann, Mary Helen Bettis, and Linda Sue Barlow; brothers Charles Walker and Allen Walker; sister Lori Ann Walker; and granddaughter Alana Weems.

In 1984, Jim met and married Floreyne (Spautz) Weems whom survives at home celebrating 37 years and many lasting memories. Friends and neighbors would know “Big Jim” working as a plumber on many construction sites around the lake area for RL Smith and himself.  Jim also had a fondness for spending time outside, BBQing, fishing, growing tomatoes, cooking, and watching the KC chiefs win.

A memorial celebration is scheduled for Jim’s birthday on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 1:00pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home on Hwy 42, Osage Beach, Missouri.
