Ann McEntyre

Obituary of Ann McEntyre

Ann McEntyre, age 78, of Camdenton, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Ann was born March 2, 1943 in Lakeland, Florida, the daughter of Roy and Alma Powell. Ann grew up in Lakeland and moved to Orlando, Florida right before she met the love of her life, Bill McEntyre. Most of her close friends and family have heard their love story before as Ann loved to tell this story. Ann pulled into the Sears parking lot where her daddy worked in her 1959 white Pontiac Catalina convertible. Of course, Bill couldn’t help but notice and started talking to all the technicians about the cute brunette sitting in the Catalina convertible. Little did he know, one of the other technicians was Ann’s daddy, Roy. Next thing you know, Roy said, “Bill, that is my daughter! Why don’t you go out and introduce yourself.” Of course, Bill didn’t hesitate to walk out and meet Ann. It was love at first sight! Bill and Ann were married on June 4, 1960 and spent their honeymoon in Daytona Beach. They bought their first home in Orlando and raised their 3 girls, Debbie, Brenda, and Cheryl. Bill was eventually transferred to the Sears home office at the Sears Tower and moved his family to Chicagoland. Ann and Bill fell in love with Glen Ellyn, Illinois which is where they bought their home on Pleasant Avenue. They had the best neighbors ever! On their first snowfall, Ann and her three daughters never had seen snow! This was such an exciting time in their life. Ann always told everyone how much she loved living in Glen Ellyn where Bill could walk to the train, and her girls could walk to all three schools and beautiful downtown. All of Ann’s life, all she cared about was taking care of her husband and her three girls. There was never a more loving wife and mother. She was the perfect example of a servant of God, putting others before herself and always respecting everyone. There was not one mean bone in her body. She never said one negative thing about anyone and always saw the good in everyone she met. Later in life, Ann and Bill became realtors in Glen Ellyn. They worked together as a wife and husband team and eventually their daughter, Cheryl went to work with them. They enjoyed their time working together in the town they loved.

Ann and Bill retired to Lake of the Ozarks in 1997. Similar to their love story, they fell in love with Lake of the Ozarks instantly while on vacation, as they both loved the water. They have enjoyed living on the Lake, boating and having fun with friends and family. Ann loved her condo as it reminded her of living in Florida. She got her “beach condo” at the Lake! They were also fortunate to spend winters in Florida.

Ann loved her family and they were the number one thing in her life. Ann became a grandmother (Meme) to 4 beautiful granddaughters and 1 handsome grandson who made her life complete: Nicole Dix, daughter of Jeff and Debbie Dix, Ashley Graham, Alyssa Graham, and Addison Graham, daughters of Clayton and Cheryl Graham, and Zachary Cribb, son of Mark and Brenda Cribb. She is also a great grandmother to Riley Pangle, daughter of Shane Pangle and Nicole Dix Pangle, and Jayden and Oliver Cribb, sons of Zachary and Amanda Cribb. Ann’s legacy will live on in the kindness and family values she instilled in her daughters and grandkids. She was so loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A private graveside service with family will be held at Ft. Leonard Wood Veterans Cemetery.
