Obituary of Grant E. Foster
Pastor Grant E. Foster, 64, of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away to his Heavenly home on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Lake Regional Healthcare System in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Grant loved God, his wife, family, friends, and his Church. He grew up in Chicago a few blocks from “Cubs Park”. He loved baseball and was the Chicago Cubs biggest fan. Grant will always be remembered for his quick wit and humor.
Grant was born in Kankakee, Illinois on September 28, 1956, to Angelina Tate Foster and Jay Foster. He graduated from Eastridge High School in Kankakee, Illinois, and went on to get a Bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnas, Illinois. Grant graduated from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri with a Master of Divinity degree in 1989. He was an ordained minister in the Nazarene Church where he served for over thirty years. He pastored in Petersburg, Indiana; Keokuk, Missouri; and Springfield, Missouri before becoming the senior pastor of New Life Church in Camdenton, Missouri in 2006 until the time of his death. Pastor Grant served for 10 years on the Board of Medical Missions for Christ in Camdenton.
Grant is survived by his wife, Sue; one daughter, Whitney (Arunus) Slepikas of Chicago, Illinois; stepdaughters, Kelly Singleton of New York City and Christa (Raymond) Boyd of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Gracelyn Slepikas; three step-grandchildren, Xander, Jett, and Sage Boyd; sisters, Susan (Brock) Swanson of Nashville, North Carolina and Marilyn (Alan) Lyke of Olathe, Kansas; brothers, Douglas Foster of Hoodsport, Washington and Stephen (Angie) Foster of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces and nephews. Grant leaves behind hundreds of friends and his best friend, Steve (Dana) Jones of Niangua, Missouri.
Grant was preceded in death by his father, Jay Foster; his mother, Angelina Tate Gassett; and his stepfather, Jonathan Gassett.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at New Life Church of the Nazarene in Camdenton, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to services at the church.
