Obituary of Betty Jo Burkhart

Betty Jo Burkhart, age 94, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Betty Jo was born on October 23, 1926, in Mack’s Creek, Missouri, the oldest daughter of Ray and Eva (Edwards) Edison.

  
She was united in marriage May 15, 1946, to Kenneth L. Burkhart, who preceded her in death in 1997.

Betty Jo was a stay at home mom for many years and later started a career at TWA. After retirement, she and Kenny moved to the Lake of the Ozarks.

  
She will be remembered for her kind disposition, her selfless nature, her faith in God, and the tremendous love she had for her family.


Betty Jo is survived by her daughter, Lynn and Vess Crewse, daughter-in-law Joy Burkhart, three grandsons, Bradley Burkhart and Ann Skelton, Scott and Leah Crewse, Michael Burkhart, and granddaughter, Mary Beth Burkhart. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Katie and Kaleb Burkhart, Kennedy and Luke Burkhart, and Riley and Vinny Crewse.  Betty Jo will be remembered by several nieces and a nephew.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Rex Burkhart, and grandson, Brian R. Burkhart.

 

Services will be held at 2:30 pm,  Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Macks Creek, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 2:00-2:30 pm,  prior to services at the funeral home.

 

Interment will follow at Macks Creek Cemetery.
