Obituary of William G Mack

William G.  "Bill" Mack Sr, age 91, of Camdenton, Missouri, departed this life Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home in Camdenton.

Bill was born September 9, 1929 in Savannah, Missouri, the son of William Mack and Lois (Gibson) Mack.

 

On November 25, 1954, in Savannah, Missouri, Bill was married to Evelyn Thompson who preceded him in death December 10, 2013.  They had shared 59 years together as husband and wife at the time of Evelyn's passing.

 

Bill served  his country proudly in the United States Air Force, and following his honorable discharge,  he earned his Master's Degree in Music Education and graduated from UCM in 1965. Throughout his long standing music tenure, Bill taught and directed several  highly successful high school and college band programs.  Among his many career accomplishments, he was awarded Band of the Year by Phi Beta MU.   In addition, Bill was past President and Hall of Fame member of MMEA and Hall of Fame member of MBA.  He was an active member of NAfME, Kappa Kappa Psi, and a member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM #71 in Savanna, Missouri, where he was awarded a 50 year pin.

 

Bill touched the lives of thousands of students throughout his teaching career.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.   His life and legacy will be forever cherished and will live on in the lives of his family.

 

Bill is survived by his son, William G. Mack, Jr and wife, Andrea, of Camdenton, Missouri;  step-son, Lon Jensen, of Perry, Florida;  three grandchildren, William Garrison Mack, Brett Jensen and wife, Pam, and Johna Geist and husband, Rob; and two great-grandchildren, Nick and Quinn.   He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Donna (Thompson) Holmes and brother-in-law Don Holmes.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lois Mack; his wife, Evelyn Mack; and three sisters.
