Obituary of Denis Michael Barker
Denis Michael Barker, age 80 passed away August 12, 2021 at Stonebridge Senior Living in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Denis was born May 3,1941 in Evanston, Illinois. He was the son of William and Marguerite (Molloy) Barker of Chicago, Illinois.
After graduating from St. George’s High School, Denis proudly served in the United States Navy. In 1964, Denis married Gayle Wood of Poulsbo, Wa. Together they had two daughters Kathleen and Karen. Professionally, Denis entered the tool and dye industry and then continued his education to become a certified master technician in HVAC. In 1979, Denis married Carol Esch of Evanston, Illinois. Denis and Carol enjoyed traveling and rooting for their beloved Chicago sports teams. Friends and family enjoyed attending many firework shows all over the Chicagoland area where Denis led the pyrotechnics of the show. This unique hobby provided Denis with many years of enjoyment. Retirement led Denis and Carol to Linn Creek, Missouri where they enjoyed their home and new friends. Denis, an avid fisherman, particularly enjoyed his fishing boat and exploring the lakes in the Lake of the Ozarks area.
Denis is survived by his loving daughters, Kathleen (Steven) Heumann of Madison, Wi and Karen (Ahmed) Ehinger of Caliente, Ca. Grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachary and Thomas of Madison, Wi and Adam of Bremerton, Wa, Roxanne of Bakersfield, Ca and Decker of Port Townsend, Wa. Siblings, Dee (Neil) O’Connor, Pat (late Jim) Sullivan , Ed (Sue) Barker, and Paul Barker.
Denis was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carol.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stonebridge for their care and attentive friends and
neighbors Tom and Theresa Golder.
The family will be holding a private gathering at a later time.
