Obituary of Judith Ann Varner

Judith Ann "Judy" Varner, age 81, of Macks Creek, Missouri, departed this life Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Judy was born June 11, 1940 in Camdenton, Missouri, the daughter of Clyde and Osa (Elliott) Capps.

She was united in marriage April 11, 1974 in Belton, Missouri to Don Varner, who preceded her in death October 21, 2018.

Judy graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri.  After her marriage to Don, they relocated back to their roots in Camden County, where Judy worked as a field representative for the Camden County Assessor's Office.  She also worked for a period of time at Dickerson Supply in Camdenton.  Judy enjoyed sewing and working puzzles in her spare time.  She and Don loved playing Domino's (Mexican Train) with their friends and family. They both became interested in genealogy in recent years, and  became quite knowledgeable regarding the families in Camden County and surrounding area.  Don and Judy worked their final years for Hedges-Scott Funeral Homes, where their love and compassion for serving families was evident.

Judy professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at an earlier age.  She and Don were both active members of Macks Creek First Baptist Church, where they both served faithfully for many years in numerous capacities.

Judy is survived by her  sons, Layne Davis and wife, Angie, of Macks Creek, Missouri and Joel Davis and wife, Sherry, of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her step-children, John Varner and wife, Wanda, of St. Joseph, Missouri and Dana Varner of St. Joseph, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Osa Capps; and her husband Don Varner.

Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Macks Creek, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to services at the church.
