Obituary of Bette Creach McCain
Bette Creach McCain, age 79, passed away in her home in Kansas City, Missouri on April 15, 2008. She was born April 12, 1929 in Gravois Mills, Missouri to Alex and Pearl Spencer.
Bette grew up in Hickory County and graduated from Preston High School. She was married to Cloyd Creach in 1946. They reared their family in Macks Creek and both worked in the U.S. Postal Service; Cloyd from 1946 until his retirement as a rural letter carrier and Bette as a postal clerk and post master for 32 years. They were active in the Missouri and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, serving on boards in both associations. Bette was a member of the National Association of Postmasters and was the area representative for Missouri, Arkansas and Iowa for 2 years and PAC chairman for Missouri for 4 years. Bette was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macks Creek for 50 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher and W.M.U. President. She was President of Macks Creek P.T.A. and as a continuing education advocate, she and Cloyd served on the Camden County advisory board to obtain junior colleges for that county. In 1995 she married William Maurice McCain and moved to Kansas City. She became involved in the Ararat and VFW, both groups of which Maurice is a member. She was active in the Ararat Women�s Needle Guild and served as president of the Ararat Legion of Honor Ladies for two years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4242.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years Cloyd Creach and her brother Bryce Spencer.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Maurice, of the home; her daughter, Carla Beezley and husband Bob Springfield, Missouri, their children Stuart, Springfield; Drew, Durango, Colorado; Spencer and wife Natasha and son Quinton of Springfield. She is also survived by her two sons, Kendall Creach, Kansas City, MO, and Cary Creach, his wife Trisha and daughter Kylee, Macks Creek; two step-daughters, Cheryl Koch, Texas and Karen Stewart, Grandview and their families; and special sisters-in-law, Guendolen Whitley, Marjorie Moore, Claudine Adams and Dona McCain.
