Obituary of Carolyn P. 'Connie' Erie
Carolyn P. Connie Erie passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on May 16, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born September 21, 1936 in Mitchell, South Dakota. She later moved with her family to Sioux Falls, where she spent her growing up years, graduating from Washington High School in 1954.
She married David Erie on October 31, 1958 and together they raised four sons. She spent many years in Redfield, South Dakota before moving to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. She and Dave also enjoyed a second home in Sioux Falls, SD, where they both enjoyed many family and friends.
Connie was an avid home decorator and both of her homes are a reflection of her unique personality and charming style. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, needlepoint and crafting and was admired for her amazing attention to detail and her excellent craftsmanship. She also enjoyed collecting and antiquing, gardening, traveling, playing bridge and cooking, always trying new and exciting recipes. Her delicious baked goods were coveted by both friends and family, who she so very much enjoyed spending time with.
She was a member of several local social organizations, including the Newcomers Old Timers and Red Hats. She was also a supporter of several local charities, most notably the Dogwood Animal Shelter in Camdenton. She loved her Lord, and expressed her spirituality in the gentle kindnesses and helpfulness that she extended to others. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a kind and supportive friend, always willing to share her many talents with all who knew her. Her energy, enthusiasm, passion, generosity and genuine zeal for life were truly larger than life, and will be sorely missed by all of those who loved her.
