Obituary of Alton Clarence 'Al' Capps

Alton Clarence �Al� Capps, age 73, of Camdenton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born June 25, 1934 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, a son to Alfonso Clarence and Maggie Dell (West) Capps. Al was united in marriage on September 2, 1961 to Joan Miller, in Elsmere, Kentucky. Al served our country proudly in the United States Army. He had a teaching career that spanned 17 years and more recently, before retiring, was a truck driver for several private companies throughout the United States. Al loved to write and had a book published by McGraw Hill Publishing titled �The Bible as Literature�. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and loved watching his granddaughters in their activities. Surviving are his wife Joan Capps of the home; three sons, Allen Capps and wife Leah, of Ozark, Missouri, Bryon Capps of Jefferson City, Missouri and Alton Capps of Nixa, Missouri; one sister, Marie Speece and husband Reverend James of Union Grove, North Carolina and two granddaughters, Danielle and Lauren. Al was preceded in death by his parents.
