Obituary of Alberta 'Bert' L. Jones

Alberta L. �Bert� Jones, age 81, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 at her home. She was born November 22, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of Richard and Frieda (Allendoefer) Henderson. Bert was united in marriage to Harry F. Jones on June 10, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. Bert was past owner of Possum Hollow Resort through the 1960�s. She moved back to Illinois in 1970 and then returned to the lake area in 1984, settling in Sunrise Beach. Bert was very active in the community. She played many roles at the Little Theater in Sunrise Beach. Her favorite was called �Social Security�. She was an accomplished painter and many own her paintings. She was the MC for the kitchen band�The Pattywhackers� and was a member of the Red Hats Society. Mostly, she loved bowling. She held many offices through the years at the Laurie Bowling Alley and when she lived in Illinois she taught many children how to bowl every Saturday. She loved line dancing with her gal friends, square dancing and enjoyed endless types of water sports. Bert is survived by four children; Charles Jones and wife Sue of Ozark, Alabama, Donna Evans and husband Dean of Wayne, Illinois, Howard Jones and wife Kathy of Wayne, Illinois and Dawn Vincent and husband Rusty (Boomer) of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Chuck and Terry Novy of Bowling Brook, Illinois, Thomas Novy of Bowling Brook, Illinois, Dawn and David Tanis of McHenery, Illinois, Allen and Logan Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, Donna and Keith Galauskas of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Daniel Evans of Wayne, Illinois, Howard Jr., and Karen Jones of Aurora, Illinois, Kenneth Jones of Wayne, Illinois, Dean and Bella Holicz of Fox Lake, Illinois, David Holicz of Shiller Woods, Illinois and Douglas and Carlie Holicz of Hebron, Illinois; sixteen great- grandchildren and many beloved friends. Bert was preceded in death by her husband Harry Jones, her parents and six brothers.
