Obituary of Fred Melvin McClure
Fred Melvin �Mel� McClure, age 88, passed away Sunday October 12,2008 at Windsor Estates Convalescent Center, Camdenton, Missouri.
He was born March 4, 1920, a son of Fred Andrew McClure and Bess J. (Winters) McClure.
Mel married the love of his life, Mary Anna Barton, on June 22, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri. After 60 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on August 5, 2000.
During World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the United States Navy. On his return home he worked for Gibson Transfer and later for Yellow Freight System, retiring as Director of Purchasing.
Mel loved camping particularly in Colorado and Texas, building, and especially enjoyed making leaded glass works of art. Several churches and homes in this area and elsewhere are more beautiful because of his talent and gifts. He was a member of Walk on the Water Faith Church in Osage Beach, however before his health failed, he attended Graceland New Testament Church in Camdenton.
He is survived by two sons, John McClure and his wife Georgia of Lawson, Missouri and Gary McClure and his wife Patty of Dallas, Texas; daughter Patricia Hughes and her husband Alan of Blue Springs, Missouri; two brothers, R.E. �Bob� McClure and his wife Betty of Roach, Missouri and Norman McClure and his wife Mary Lou of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Betty Hammonds of Grandview, Missouri, Helen Boyd and husband Bill of Independence, Missouri and Peggy Brown and husband Dave of Roach, Missouri; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of good friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers.
