Obituary of Gladys Sears

Gladys Sears, age 94, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008 at her residence. She was born April 3, 1914 in Huntington, Tennessee, a daughter to Thomas Garfield and Esther (Murry) Moody. Gladys was united in marriage to Denver Ronald Sears who preceded her death in 1971. Among her many accomplishments, Gladys spent most of her life and energy operating resorts in the lake area. Gladys and husband Denver built, owned and operated the Golden Door Motel in Osage Beach and also owned and operated the Malibu Beach Resort for a time. In the 1940�s Gladys had worked in the Steel Mills in Gary, Indiana. Gladys was very active in her church, Harper Chapel United Methodist in Osage Beach and enjoyed helping with the youth group there. In her spare time Gladys enjoyed writing. Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Gladys is survived by one daughter-in-law Erma Borch of Osage Beach, Missouri; four grandchildren, David Foster and wife Anita of Osage Beach, Missouri, Mark Foster and wife Connie of Lee�s Summit, Missouri, Sean Foster of South Carolina and Judith Ann Willis of Osage City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Wendy Foster, Michaela Foster, Lilly Willis and Jasmine Foster along with several other relatives and a host of cherished friends. Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William Borch; one daughter, Carol June Foster; two brothers, James Claude Moody and Warner Moody and two sisters, Mabel May and Mae Carr.
