Obituary of Edward J. Westhusing

Edward John Westhusing, age 84, departed this life on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Lake Ozark Retirement Center, Osage Beach, Missouri. Ed was the son of Jo Anthony (Tony) and Lena Cook Westhusing of Germantown, Missouri. He was born January 11, 1924 in Kansas City, Kansas. Ed served in the United States Army during World War II driving tanks and was stationed in the Philippines. On October 14, 1951 he married Betty Lee Young of Fort Scott, Kansas. They owned several roller skating rinks; one in Fort Scott, as well as in Belleville, Illinois, Sunflower, Kansas, Olathe, Kansas and Lawrence, Kansas. In 1956 Ed and Betty and their family moved to Lake of the Ozarks, where Ed built roads and developed several subdivisions on the Lake, in Osage Beach near Tan-Tar-A Resort. Ed had a lot of friends and loved and provided well for his family. He enjoyed traveling with his family, fishing, hunting and taxidermy. He raised Tennessee Walking Horses for several years and he always had a dog to love and spoil. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Wilma Wagoner of Fulton, Missouri and Edith Wilkerson of Kansas City, Kansas and one son Edward Lee Westhusing of Leesburg, Florida. Ed is survived by his wife and was the father of three sons; Tony Westhusing and wife Nancy of Osage Beach, Paul Westhusing and wife Paula of Osage Beach, Johnny Westhusing and wife Anne of Osage Beach; two daughters, Cathy Mueller and husband Ed of Eldon and Anna Stoltz and husband Alan of Springfield, Missouri. Ed is also survived by two sisters, Maxine Van Dyke of Eudora, Kansas and Faye Haynes of Sun Lake, Arizona; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
