Obituary of Arthur Taylor

Arthur (Art) Preston Taylor, Jr., age 79, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born February 20, 1929 in Sutton, Nebraska, a son to Arthur P. Sr. and Lillian (Newham) Taylor. Art graduated from Weeping Water High School in 1948 in Weeping Water, Nebraska. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post 2442. Art married Joan Smith in 1951 in Murray, Nebraska. She preceded him in death in 1958, along with an unborn child and his daughter Teresa Diane Taylor. He was employed by Allied Chemical Company in Nebraska. In 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska, he married Betty Billet and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage. They moved to Osage Beach, Missouri in 1961. Art was employed by Richard Surbaugh Architect and Contract in Lake Ozark, while building Sunset Beach Resort. The family owned and operated the resort until 1977. He then went into building homes and service work around the lake area, retiring in 2000 and working on his home. Art was a member of the Murray Christian Church in Murray, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife Betty Billet Taylor of the home; one daughter, Mishell Taylor Nelson; one sister Darlene Cakley and nieces Kathleen Richards and Susan Clark.
