Obituary of Wealthy Odessa Calvert
Wealthy Odessa (Rainwater) Calvert, age 100, of Montreal, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Windsor Estates Nursing Home in Camdenton, Missouri.
She was born June 30, 1908 in Montreal, Missouri, a daughter to Everette and Betty (Head) Rainwater. She married Thomas Egbert Calvert on March 18, 1937. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1969.
Wealthy was a poet at heart and has passed along volumes of poems and songs to her loved ones and church family. She became a member of the Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church November 24, 1928, and was an active member as long as her health permitted. She was a correspondent for the local newspapers and had many poems published in the Reveille and Miller County Autogram.
She could play any musical instrument she picked up and those who knew her, knew she always had her �harp� harmonica with her and a song in her heart.
Wealthy loved the outdoors, especially working in her beautiful flowers or vegetable garden. She was a caring neighbor and friend and always wanted to share the bounty of her hands.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews who always just called her �Auntie�, Ola Cross of Linn Creek, Missouri, Barney Rainwater and wife Caroline of McAllen, Texas, Edsel Rainwater of Willard, Missouri and Mack Rainwater and wife Vera of Linn Creek, Missouri along with a host of great nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lloyd Rainwater, Wes Rainwater and Dewey Rainwater; an infant brother and sister; nieces Marjorie Lawrence and Pebble Kirchmaier and nephews Sid and Warren Rainwater.
