Obituary of Gerald E. Sims

Gerald E Sims, age 64, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Raytown, Missouri. He was born September 29, 1944 in Terre Haute, Indiana, a son to Ernest E. and Mary M. (Lee) Sims. He was married to Yvonne Wills on August 13, 1967 in Charleston, Illinois. Gerald was a Viet Nam Veteran having served in both the United States Marines and the United States Army. He had worked in advertising through the years as an owner/operator. He was a member of Osage Hills Baptist Church in Osage Beach, Missouri and was former Pastor of Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church in Lake Ozark, Missouri and North Union Separate Baptist Church in Charleston, Illinois. Surviving are his wife, Yvonne (Wills) Sims of Lake Ozark, Missouri; son, Kyle E Sims and wife Melinda of Raytown, Missouri; two daughters, Dawn Michelle Lyons and husband Larry of Chelsea, Michigan and Sonya Annette Stretch and husband Rick of Grove City, Ohio; his father Ernest Sims of Charleston, Illinois; Grandchildren, Lauren, Sean and Timothy Lyons, Isaac and Adam Stretch and Carter and Chloe Sims, along with several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; one son, Shon and one sister. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
