Obituary of Bill Christensen

Clarence William (Bill) Christensen, born February 15, 1931 to Clarence M. and Ollie M. (Leffert) Christensen of Linn Creek, Missouri, departed this world on July 10, 2009 at Osage Beach Health Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri. He is survived by his wife Rosa M. (Willey) Christensen of the home; sons, Clarence and wife Deanna of Montreal, Missouri, William and wife Kelly of Camdenton, Missouri, and Robert and wife Kim of Camdenton, Missouri; grandchildren, Magen, Alex, Matthew, Nick, Chelsea, Amber, Cheyenne, Brittany, and Justin and seven great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Ollie Jones of Pilot Grove, Missouri, Lillie Connolly of Linn Creek, Missouri, and Linda Christensen of Camdenton, Missouri; two brothers, Samuel Christensen and wife Renee of California, Missouri and Daniel Christensen of Macks Creek, Missouri along with several other nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ollie; siblings, Clara Burton, Mary Vaughn, Charley Christensen, Albert Christensen, and Johnny Christensen. Bill was united in marriage to Rosa M. (Willey) Christensen on March 20, 1954 at Harmony Baptist Church in Macks Creek, Missouri. He owned and operated a cattle and turkey farm off of Route J in Macks Creek. Bill worked for Scott�s Concrete for 12 years and managed the Sunrise Beach Plant for seven years. Bill was in the Military service and made Sergeant in less than 2 years and was in the active reserves for 6 years. While in the service, he was presented with the Korean Service Medal, 3-bar UNSM 20 Bars Battle Stars and a Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant for his services above and beyond the call of duty. Bill was in law enforcement as Deputy with the Camden County Sheriff�s Department under Sheriff George Green. He was a charter member of the Macks Creek Lions Club and a life member of the Camdenton VFW Post 5923. Bill co-sponsored and helped to organize the first Macks Creek Boy Scouts, the Macks Creek Fire Department and was President of the American Cancer Society during the 1970�s as well as co-sponsored and helped organize the first Dogwood Animal Shelter.
