Obituary of JoAnn J. Hicks

JoAnn J. Hicks, age 83, of Ballwin, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at her residence in Ballwin. She was born October 14, 1925 in Corning, Kansas, a daughter to Charles Jesse Jorden and Mable Eunice Dabner Jorden. She had one brother, Gale Lee Jorden who preceded her in death at the age of 21. She was united in marriage to Melvin Leroy Hicks on October 28, 1950, and to this union they had four children; Charles Lee Hicks, Stephen Lee Hicks, Michael Lee Hicks, and Melinda Ann Hicks-White. Stephen preceded her in death in 2007. She has two granddaughters, Jennifer Hicks-Enemark and Jordan Hicks and four beautiful great grandchildren, Avalon, Graelem, Dylan, Ian and a fifth one to be born very, very soon. JoAnn graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Dietetics followed by an Internship at Kansas University Medical Center in 1948. She worked as a clinical dietician for the Veterans Administration Hospital prior to retiring after 20 years of service. She resided in Topeka, Kansas prior to retiring to the Lake of the Ozarks, then following a stroke in 2004, she had lived in St. Louis, Missouri where her daughter resides.
