Obituary of Mary Smith

Mary Smith, age 47, of Brumley, Missouri, lost her fight with cancer on Friday, July 31, 2009, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Tom Smith along with Westley Cecil, Sarah Smith, and Matthew Smith, children she loved as her own; her parents, Lloyd and Veda Degraffenried of Brumley; two sisters, Karen Degraffenried of Brumley and Sharon Gardner of Iberia; and one brother, Jim Degraffenried of Pt. St. Lucie, Florida. She was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Degraffenried. Helped by the loyalty brought by fine leadership and co-workers, she had been a dedicated employee of Mid-Missouri Oil for twenty-four years. Born in Iberia on January 15, 1962, Mary grew up in Brumley, knowing the love and security of family and friends. She ventured out of Brumley a couple of times and succeeded in her quest each time, but she realized the fortunes of the big world could not compare with the simple pleasures of a small town. Mary showed by example the value of hard work, love, and friendship. She helped us all strive to be our best and she will be missed.
