Obituary of Charles Joseph Clear

Charles Joseph Clear, age 80, of Roach, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Charlie was born August 26, 1929 to Ruth (Chenoweth) and Charles M. Clear in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised in the East Bottoms and attended Martin School and Northeast High School. He was united in marriage to Josephine Kobby on April 4, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri. They made their home in the Northland for 35 years. Charlie worked forty years on the Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad as a Carmen. He served as a local chairman union representative and spent the last 4 years of his employment as the General Chairman of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, handling claims for seven states. Charlie and his wife retired to their beloved summer home, on the Lake of the Ozarks in 1989. Charlie was a member of St. Anthony�s Catholic Church in Camdenton. He was superintendent of the Lake of the Ozarks Railroad Club. Survivors include his wife, Josephine of the home; four daughters, Charlene Dunphy and husband Tom of Creston, Iowa, Terri Johnson and husband Bruce of Stanberry, Missouri, Kim Lund and Tami Allen, of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Charlene Miller, Platte City, Missouri. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents. A website has been set up for Charlie on CaringBridge.com (charlieclear). Friends and loved ones are encouraged to sign the website guestbook. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to American Cancer Society or St. Pius X High School of Kansas City, Missouri. Local Visitation will be held Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
