Obituary of Mildred Munyon

Mildred Munyon of Camdenton, Missouri, died September 16, 2009 in her home at the age of 99 years. Born August 12, 1910, Mildred was the second of three children born to Walter C. and Grace (Wood) O�Bryan of Lentner, Missouri. On January 22, 1933 she was married to A. LeRoy Munyon and together they raised their daughters, Mildred Lee and Sara Grace. She lived in Lentner, Missouri, on the O�Bryan Centennial Farm until her marriage, attending Lentner School and graduating at age sixteen from Shelbina High School. At the time of her death she was the oldest living alumni of Lentner School and enjoyed attending a reunion of former students in 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, her parents, her siblings Clarice (O�Bryan) Mann and Gerald Wood O�Bryan and their spouses; LeRoy�s siblings Willard Munyon and Vera Corder and their spouses; sons-in-law Bill Arthur Jaynes and Joseph R. Reiter; two nephews, Bobby and Larry Mann, and her niece Roselyn Mann. She loved her family and cherished her Irish heritage. Surviving family member include daughters Mildred Jaynes, Humboldt, Kansas, and Sara Reiter and husband M.L. �Bud� Donaldson, Camdenton and Glendale, Arizona; grandchildren Debbie Lee (Jaynes) Ballagh and Richard, La Harpe, Kansas; Walter LeRoy Reiter and Michelle, Overland Park, Kansas; Bryan Joseph Reiter and Louise, Springfield, Missouri; SaraJo (Reiter) Murphy, Clyde Hill, Washington; and Burkhardt Reiter and Leah Givelber, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren Lauren Elizabeth and Wenten Brooks Reiter (Springfield), Kyle Joseph, Layne Thomas, Christy Michelle and Jake Walter Reiter (Overland Park), Caitlin Grace, Seamus Joseph, and Fiona Marie Murphy (Clyde Hill), and Josephine Gevelbar Reiter (Pittsburgh), Jennifer Thieman and Forest, and Sasha Craig, Chanute, Kansas; six great-great-grandchildren; nephews Billy Mann and Frances and Gary O�Bryan and Susan, Lentner, Missouri; nieces Clarice Ann (Mann) Godfrey, Fulton, Missouri; Barbara Jean (O�Bryan) Hughes, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Carol Ann (O�Bryan) Robinson and David, Plano, Texas; Judy Livingston and Neal, Shelbina, Missouri; and niece-in-law Sandy Mann, Mexico, Missouri; and the great-nieces and nephews in their several families. Since 2003, Bud Donaldson�s children and grandchildren have enriched her life with new relationships, experiences and interests. Mildred partnered with her husband in Christian ministry as they served Christian Churches, Disciples of Christ, in Missouri, Louisiana, and Texas, in pastoral and interim ministries, participating in several new church starts. They served Community Christian Church in Camdenton from 1949 to 1954 and returned to the church for several interim ministries, the last ending in September 1968, when LeRoy passed away. Mildred was a leader in children�s, youth, and women�s ministries in the churches they served and also at area and state levels. In 1969 she joined the staff of William Woods University as Head Resident of Camden Point Hall and served in that capacity until her retirement in 1988 when she was an honored recipient of the �Order of the Owl.� On her 95th and 99th birthdays she was showered with cards from former residents of her dormitory. She treasured her memories William Woods and the churches she and LeRoy had served. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Mother Advisor to the Rainbow Girls� for several years in the early 1950�s. She was a member of the Women�s Literary Club of Camden County. The Munyons purchased a cabin at Ha Ha Tonka Village Park in 1949 and she maintained that residence until her retirement when she moved to Springfield. In 2002 she returned to �the lake� to enjoy her home and lake view, her antiques, family, friends, and church. She met life with enthusiasm and especially enjoyed greeting friends at home and at church. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, crocheting afghans, and browsing antique shops.
