Obituary of Vera Florence Foster

Dr. Vera Florence Foster, 87, made her transition early Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 2:17 a.m., at her home in Osage Beach, Missouri. Her daughter, Dr. Angela Foster, was at her side along with her sister, Pat Ray of Portland, Oregon and two nieces, Elaine Hogan of Bismarck, Missouri and Jenna Frank of Labadie, Missouri. Dr. Vera Foster was born April 6, 1922 to Frank and Florence Nicolaides in Fornfelt, Missouri. After attending Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indiana, she established a practice in Shelbina, Missouri in 1945. In 1950, she married Dr. Earl Gene Foster, and they practiced together. In 1972, they opened a second chiropractic practice in Osage Beach, Missouri. Semi-retired in 1992, Dr. Vera would make her home in the winter months in Port Charlotte, Florida. Dr. Foster had two children, Dr. Angela foster of Osage Beach, Missouri and Larry Gene Foster. Preceding her in death were her husband, Dr. Earl Gene Foster, and their son, Larry Gene Foster; her brother, Lee Alfred Nicolaides; her sister and brother-in-law, Drs. Frances and W.W. DeVore of Ironton, Missouri. Also, a sister-in-law, Joyce Miller of Shelbyville, Missouri, and a brother-in-law, Learel Foster of Macon, Missouri. Dr. Vera Foster was a member of Walk On The Water Faith Church in Osage Beach and active in the Church of Peace in Port Charlotte, Florida. She has been a member of Beta sigma Phi since the 1950�s and was inducted into the Golden Circle Fifty Year Membership, has been awarded Woman of the Year and held all available offices in the Chapter Beta Psi in Osage Beach and was an active winter member of the Preceptor Theta Chapter in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Shelbina, Missouri. While living in Port Charlotte, Dr. foster remained active in a community orchestra and bowling league. She also assisted with eldercare and charitable causes. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
