Obituary of F. Neil Williams
Neil Williams, age 70, of Four Seasons, Missouri; formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away from injuries due to an auto accident on December 23, 2009.
Mr. Williams was born in Kansas City. He was a 1957 graduate of Paseo High School, where he lettered in football and basketball. He grew up in the 3 & 2 and Ban Johnson Baseball Leagues of Kansas City. In 1961 he graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, where he is a member of the college�s Athletic Hall of Fame. He received a master�s degree at Ohio University in 1962 and continued at O.U. for additional studies toward a doctorate. While at O.U. he was the varsity tennis coach.
He began his post college career at the State University of New York at Albany as assistant soccer and basketball coach. Turning his interests toward administration, he served as a dean at both Huntington College in Indiana and at Penn Valley Community College. He was vice-principal at Center High School in the early 70�s.
In 1977 he became owner and president of two companies dealing in the electrical/electronic fields: JM&W Co. and F.P. Williams, and Associates.
Mr. Williams maintained his interest in athletics by serving as officials in soccer and basketball, both on the secondary and collegiate levels. In addition, he was an international basketball referee, officiating in Europe and Asia.
Mr. Williams was a member of Hillcrest Country Club in the 1960�s and 70�s where he served on the Board of Directors as well as President.
He was a Director of Mark Twain Bank, Kansas City as well as Research Mental Health Center.
After he and his wife Joan retired to the Village of Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks in 1996, he took the position of executive director of Four Seasons Racquet Club.
Mr. Williams enjoyed his final years of retirement as a substitute teacher at School of the Osage High School. At the time of his death, he was serving his 10th year on the Village of Four Seasons Board of Trustees, having served as both vice-chairman and chairman.
He was a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Alison; his parents, Fred and Vera (Overly) Williams; and his sister, Susan (Williams) Kozel.
He is survived by his wife Joan of the home; son, Tim Williams and daughter-in-law Paula, Kansas City, Missouri; and nephew Rob Kozel, Kansas City, Missouri.
