Obituary of Noel C. Calkin

Noel C. Calkin, age 88, of Osage Beach, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Osage Beach. Noel was born, May 8, 1921 in Bagnell, Missouri, the son of William and Mary (Hale) Calkin. He was married August 25, 1918 to his beloved Mary, who preceded him in death on May 13, 2006. Noel enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly during World War II. Noel worked for the Missouri State Highway Department in the Jefferson City area for many years. He was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Kaiser, and was a very strong and devoted Christian man. Noel loved to cook, and his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing and building houses. Noel is survived by one sister-in-law, Anna Wheeler of Jefferson City, Missouri; two nieces, Cheri Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri and Donna Wheeler Wilson and her husband Wendell of Olathe, Kansas; one nephew, Barry Calkin of Ozark, Missouri, along with other nieces and nephews. Noel loved to talk, and he made many friends around the lake. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his work, and for his love of the Lord.
