Obituary of Mary Alice Polyak

Mary Alice Polyak, age 68, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away on April 14, 2010, at Laurie Care Center in Laurie, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Cecilia Polyak. Mary Alice was born January 9, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the beloved daughter of Cecilia and Nicholas Polyak and sister to Nicholas E. Polyak. She was a success in many aspects of her life. The most important to her was being �Aunt Mar� to her loving Niece and Nephews. She was a successful entrepreneur and started two small businesses. Later in life she was instrumental in the development and administrative management of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Duke University in Durham, NC. After her retirement from Duke University she moved to the lake area to be nearer to her loved ones. Most of all Mary Alice loved spending time with her family. She spent many happy times with her brother and sister in law. She enjoyed the company of her family, nephews, niece and great nieces. She was an avid reader and was committed to a lifetime of learning and enjoyed event planning and the creative process. Mary Alice is survived by her loving brother; Nicholas E. Polyak of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and his wife Valerie A. Polyak. Her niece and surviving nephews are Beth Ann Nichols along with her husband David of St. Charles, Missouri, Nicholas E. Polyak Jr. and his wife Lori of Flower Mound, Texas and Steven John Polyak of Tipton, Missouri. Mary Alice was also the loving Great Aunt of Claire and Gail Nichols and Emily and Ellie Polyak. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends. Mary Alice professed a strong belief in Christ, and was saved at an early age. She attended Our Faith Family Church in Osage Beach, Missouri. She will be in the hearts of her family forever. Following her wishes, she will be cremated and they will have a celebration of her life at the Lake of the Ozarks in June, at their annual family reunion.
